Synopsis/Plot:
In “Iron Man 2”, billionaire inventor and playboy Tony Stark (portrayed by Robert Downey Jr.) grapples with the consequences of revealing his identity as Iron Man. The world admires him, but the U.S. government resents his refusal to share the specs of his advanced robot technology. Meanwhile, Stark faces a mysterious malady: his chest-mounted life source is failing, poisoning his blood. As he battles inner demons, new threats emerge. His arch-rival Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell) plans an army of rival iron suits, and Ivan Vanko (Mickey Rourke), a vengeful Russian, believes Stark’s father stole Iron Man’s secrets. Review:
Once again, Downey shines as Tony Stark. His cocky yet vulnerable portrayal adds depth. The armored suits dazzle, especially during the Monaco Grand Prix sequence. Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts and Don Cheadle as Lt. Col. “Rhodey” Rhodes deliver solid performances. While not as fresh as the original, “Iron Man 2” maintains the franchise’s momentum.
