Synopsis/Plot:
In the quaint town of Ratodi, Uttar Pradesh, a malevolent ghost named Kakuda haunts the villagers. Every Tuesday at precisely 7:15 PM, the men must leave a small door open in their homes to avoid Kakuda’s curse—a hunchback and certain death within 13 days. Sunny (Saqib Saleem) and his father have escaped the curse until an ill-fated Tuesday changes everything. On the eve of his wedding to Indira (Sonakshi Sinha), Sunny falls victim to Kakuda’s wrath. Desperate to save him, Indira enlists the help of ghostbuster Victor (Riteish Deshmukh). But will their efforts be enough to break the curse?
Review:
Kakuda dances on the tightrope between horror and comedy, but unfortunately, it stumbles. Director Aditya Sarpotdar, known for the sleeper hit Munjya, crafts a bizarre narrative that struggles to find coherence. While the premise—men haunted by a vengeful spirit—holds promise, the execution falters. The film lacks genuine fear or suspense, leaving viewers unconvinced of the characters’ peril. Sonakshi Sinha and Saqib Saleem deliver earnest performances, but the humor falls flat. Only Kakuda’s eerie appearance manages to evoke mystery. Despite its flaws, Kakuda remains an intriguing addition to the horror-comedy genre, albeit one that won’t haunt your dreams.
